Kroll's Chili

This is Kroll's in EAST Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The reason I emphasize EAST is because it is way better than than west. The food and atmosphere is what makes Kroll's EAST the best place to eat when you're in Green Bay. Even if you're at a Packer game with the other location right across the street; make it a point to travel to the EAST side for the best chili and burgers in town!

And here is their delicious chili. You MUST have it with spaghetti, otherwise it's not right (and they charge you more, lol).

Now the best part of the entire thing. Our take on Kroll's Chili!

2   #    ground beef, browned (do NOT drain fat)
   (add)
2     t     garlic powder
2     t     ground cumin
1/2  t     salt
1/2  t     red pepper
1/4  c     chili powder
2     T     flour
1    med   onion, diced
1      T     cocoa

Mix in seasonings well, add 3 cups water. Do NOT cover! Bring to boil, simmer 1 hour.

Add 2 cans chili beans with gravy (at this point you can skim off some of the fat). Simmer 30 minutes.

Serve with spaghetti.

A few things to note when you go to Kroll's East:
  1. Your burger is going to come wrapped in paper and be very greasy with lots of butter, but it's amazing
  2. The wait staff may not be the best around, but you're not there for the wait staff, you're their for the food.
  3. To have your wait staff come to your table, you have to press a button on the wall. Every time.
  4. You choose your own seating. I usually choose the middle section with the booths down a long hallway type area.
  5. You pay for your food when the food arrives. Period. Make sure to have your money ready (they accept cash and plastic).
  6. They do offer carry-out as well, but be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes (longer on a Friday night, especially during Lent).
  7. They have an AWESOME fish fry!
